Read to Kill

(Entry in Lithuanian)

The difference between reading a story and studying a story is the difference between living the story and killing the story and looking at its guts. (Cory Doktorow, Eastern Standart Tribe)

For several years I was engaged in vivisecting and dissecting of the texts. Simple and non-committing, pleasant – “normal” for a lack of a better word – reading became a huge challenge. I no longer know how to „simply“ read – when I have a book in my hands, the Critical Approaches mode turns on automatically, and so I try to remember how to read like before.

It ain‘t going all that well… :)

Read to Kill

Keletą metų užsiiminėjau tekstų vivisekcija ir skrodimais. Paprastas, neį(si)pareigojantis, malonus – “normalus” galų gale – skaitymas tapo didžiuliu iššūkiu. Nebemoku tiesiog skaityti – rankose atsidūrus knygai, automatiškai įsijungia critical approaches režimas; taigi bandau prisiminti, kaip skaitydavau anksčiau.

Negaliu pasakyti, kad man labai sekasi… :)
